Twelve female artists form the temporary Musée de la Fraise, which spreads out like a rhizome across Berlin and incorporates the stands of Karls Erdbeerhof to devote itself to themes such as sensuality, passion and desire.
Strawberries - juicy, delicious, heavenly; they were assigned as an attribute to ancient goddesses of love. Whoever eats them is in the Garden of Earthly Delights. From love, virginal fertility to an object of desire, the fruit has always had a female connotation, as an object of desire, shaped by a male view, exposed to the male gaze. The Musée de la Fraise takes this narrative and turns it 180 degrees. The Musée de la Fraise is defined by an entirely unique positive radicalism. With their unyielding perseverance and decisive socio-political positions, the artists reflect a radical attitude that creates a positive social impact. The selection of the artists is deliberately matriarchal, trusting that matriarchal knowledge harbors the potential for a new questioning of sensuality and socially relevant issues.
Their topics are explosive, from ongoing gender injustice to the socio-ecological consequences of the climate crisis and political decisions to progressive global urban life and turbo capitalism. The Musée de la Fraise exists and emerges in the urban space and functions as a network as well as singular entities, as individual voices and as a canon to an urgent appeal to actively lived community and socio-ecological responsibility.
